Stop by herw for lunch over the weekend and it did not disappoint. The brisket was so tender and flavorful. Saturdays they serve up beef ribs. One weights almost 2 lbs Their sides are killer. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful

I really love this place and wish they would have kept their place in Wahiawa as well! Definitely pricy but the meat is consistently tasty. Wish their sides were better though...

This place is amazing! This is the first time I've ever had rice with bbq and I'm not mad. I got the brisket combo and added a sausage link. The brisket was tender, juicy, with a nice layer of seasoning and smoky flavor. The sausage was flavorful, had a nice snap and bite. The rice was perfectly cooked and so was the creamed corn. The beans were not my favorite, they were a bit tangy and cooked too al dente but I can see how others would enjoy. I also picked up the pickles and onions provided and it added a nice acidic cut to the fatty cuts. My fiancé took the workers recommendation and got the weekend special, the beef rib. Initially, when we faced our total of $81, we were shocked and appetite was a bit lost lol. But when we took a bite into that beef rib..... it was all worth it. You will pay a pretty penny for your meal here but you can taste the quality and time put into your meal. I would not hesitate to pay the same price again to eat here. It is well worth the price. The workers were so kind and grateful for our business. You can tell it is family owned. We will be returning, maybe next time with friends!

Yummy! What brought me in were all the social media posts praising this place. Between the brisket and sausage for my favorite picks. I could personally just go ala carte cause it doesn't need any sides. But can't go wrong with white rice for locals and baked beans. I didn't try the ribs but I hear those are good, twice I've gone in and it was either sold out or one left and someone before me grabbed the last. This spot is located in a semi-busy area with lots of street metered parking. The appearance of the outside wouldn't tell you how huge it is inside. There are way more seats available than expected and I love that they offer seating where you can see where the magic is made and watch them work. But I've come too late where they're done cooking. All the workers are really nice and super helpful cause it can be overwhelming if it's your first time. The only thing I was disappointed with was the cornbread. Not what I was expecting, it was more like a bread pudding so it was kind of weird to me. Not my favorite but maybe for someone else.

Had a chance to lunch with a friend and we both wanted to try here. Paid street parking only, but there's quite a lot of stalls around the area. Walking in, it smelled heavenly...smoky, meaty, delicious. Plates to choose from, as well as ordering ala carte. You order at their counter, which is kinda like cafeteria style, and have a seat. Tables are throughout the establishment, with different views. The main dining area is filled with bbq/Texas memorabilia, but down the hallway, you have a view of their bbq smokers and possibly an inside peek of their process. I ordered cole slaw, cornbread, and brisket. The person carving the brisket gave me a little extra, which I appreciated because my lunch came out to just shy of $50!!! Though pricey and definitely not a come-here-often kind of place, the brisket was delicious...smoky, juicy, and tender. Cole slaw was fresh, with crunch and not too sweet. I was disappointed with the cornbread...way too moist and sweet for my liking because it seemed to have creamed corn mixed in. I prefer my cornbread on the drier side with a grainier cornmeal texture. Overall, this place is a must try since there aren't many BBQ places around town, but it'll be a splurge meal.

I have been to Texas and had some of their incredible BBQ. With that in mind, I visited Sunset Texas BBQ again - while watching a BBQ showdown show on Netflix! This is still the best BBQ we can get here in Honolulu IMO. But truth be told, there are some differences that I have noticed in the last couple times I have gone there. One of my favorite sides is their beans (I love the them). But lately the beans have been less soft than they used to be. They have also seemed to really dial down the spiciness. I used to love that "kick" but now it's really muted and it's not spicy at all. The brisket is not as tender as it used to be. When they were in Wahiawa it used to be very, very soft. In Texas the brisket was so soft, I couldn't believe it. So when I picked up my brisket today, it just was too "tight". Not the same soft brisket as before. I went right when they opened so I have no idea if this affects the softness of the brisket or the beans being firm. Overall, still the best place around - but it lost a little bit of the "magic" that it used to have for sure. The flavor is still there.

Sunset Texas Barbecue has been on my list of places to eat so we checked it out on a Saturday. Love the way they get you at you enter the door and all the signage and pictures on display. Ordering is simple when you order a plate. It comes with 2 scoups of rice and you chose 2 sides and your choice of meat. You can also order by the pound and take it home. I decided on the slaw, beans and smoked brisket, the plate also came pickle and onions and 2 sauces to try. Being out was a Saturday the Beef Rib was available that you can purchase separately, it was huge. The brisket had a nice smoke ring and was so tender, delicious! We shared the Beef Rib, great flavor and equally tender and tasty. It's a carnivore dream to eat a plate or one of the many smoked items. Definitely come back and try the other offerings.
